Béla Rerrich Landscape Architecture College
University self-representation of landscape architect profession(Summary)
As a follow up of a former venture,
this year on 24th of March the college
of Faculty of Landscape Architecture
on Corvinus University
of Budapest was established.
On the foundation meeting nearly
thirty participants chose name for
the university self-representation
of landscape architecture profession.
As the name-giver of the
college Béla Rerrich (1881-1932)
architect was chosen due to his
home professional landscape
architectural activity and achievements.
Nowdays’ tasks for landscape architects
Before the foundation meeting
the first round-table seminar was
held with the title: ‘Present and
future of landscape architecture’.
Around the “round-table” set Mihály
Mőcsényi, Attila Csemez
dean, Imre Jámbor deputy rector,
Péter Csima and Kristóf Fatsar.
The seminar was listened to by
nearly two hundred students and
university staff. The discussion
was held about nowadays’ tasks
of landscape architecture also
touching upon the future of this
profession. Such actual points
arouse like the role of a landscape
architect in the economic crisis. 
Drawing up the aims
In the foundation meeting the
college did draw up the aims for
itself. The existence of university
self-representation of landscape
architects is a tool of making this
profession more wide-known and
better appreciated. Seeking for
communicational chanels with
the near-standing disciplines
helps to keep in touch with cooperating
professions. However,
the college is not just a tool of
self-representation, but it is even
a forum. As the place of cooperation
of university students the college
means self-training, sharing
of scientific experiences and even
professional development. Our
venture was also ceded by the
Congress of Corvinus University
of Budapest so the college was
taken in on the congress meeting
of 25th of May.
