Klára JORDÁN An inviting, decorative roof garden Garden of the Year 2008 – Award of Special Merit(Summary) Wooden structures, natural stone
surfaces, metal planters, loose
gravel and grass connect naturally
to one another in this tiny roof
space. This harmonious mixture
is complemented with a pool and
a good selection of plants.
For the
flower beds we tried to choose
plants that are not only beautiful
or decorative but will tolerate
exposed conditions and provide
a year around interest in the garden.
Hence our planting material
is a good selection of spreading
and alpine evergreens, flowering
shrubs and climbing plants. These
creepers are especially useful for
screening the unsightly walls. The
central lawn area, which is situated
between the simple stainless
steel edging of the beds,
makes a pleasing connection
between hard surfaces and planting.
Plants and the wooden structures
are illuminated, making the
garden more available, useful for
recreation and family gathering at
any time of the day. |
