Mrs. Dr. Rudolf HORVÁTH Garden as a compromise between wishes and possibilities Garden of the Year 2008 – Certificate of Special Merit(Summary)
The some 80 metres long, 8-9
metres narrow garden looked
uninteresting and uninviting in
front of the elegant, Mediterranean
style house. As part of a
well thought-out garden design,
the elimination of unwanted garden
objects, the creation of small
changes in levels, the installation
of a pond and an excellent
choice of planting material
transformed this space into an
exciting, ornamental garden.
The
biggest virtue of this new garden
is the balance between planting
material, the vegetation and the
built in materials, hard surfaces,
and their moderate usage. Each
composition of planting material
creates a focal point in the garden.
Besides these plants, the
miniature trees and annuals of
the patio’s planted up boxes and
troughs give and extra interest.
This combination of the garden
plants, patio plant and annuals
give a well-deserved year around
interest to the garden. |
