Multigenerational family garden – in a housing estate environment
Garden of the Year 2007 – Certificate of Merit

(Summary)

The luxuriously designed property is occupied by more than one generations of the same family and – periodically – by many of their friends. House and garden was being designed and built at the same time, which proved to be a difficulty during construction. The property is situated right in the middle of a housing estate; the public playground in front of the house and the big, open, grassy field around; are a perfect spot for the children’s play, sport activities and social gathering.

Therefore these functional units within the garden were not planned or built. Hence the hectic, busy lifestyle of the family, the main design aim was to create a garden which is easy to maintain, has well defined units, parts and its layout is ideal for relaxation, free walks and quiet contemplation.
