Vera RADÓCZ Combination of old and new Garden of the Year 2007 – Certificate of Merit(Summary) My clients expanded their garden with the purchase of the neighboring plot; therefore our initial design aim was to combine the old garden with the new. We achieved this aim very simply with braking up the existing planting alongside the pavement and with replanting new shrub groups. This is the part of the garden, the old border between the plots, where a new fishpond was designed, complete with water feature and a wooden bridge. The wooden play area, covered in vine and other climbing plants, was designed at the back of the garden and as the owner wanted to break up the lawn area to the smallest possible extend, very few stepping stones were planned. For easy maintenance I planned the new shrubs in groups and used shade tolerant grasses and ground covering plants under the existing trees. |
