Garden Area Design with Hedges (2)
Plantation, Cutting, Maintenance

(Summary)

Readers can learn about professional installation and maintenance of hedges in the second part of our article, which deals with garden design. Prior to the installation – see the previous article for more details – it has to be decided what criteria the hedges must comply with – plants must be selected accordingly.

Katalin MARÁCZI – Garden Area Design with Hedges (2) – Plantation, Cutting, Maintenance

We might create hedges from deciduous or evergreen shrubs or pines, always bearing in mind the natural conditions we can provide for our plants. We might install hedges on the parcel boundary in the street front; however, we have to be careful about enough space on the neighbours’ side so as to be able to maintain our hedges. The selected plants must be planted in the right size of holes; mud must be added and they shall be watered until roots come out. Our trimmed hedges will only be dense with tiny elevations. When trimming, we must pay attention to preserving the trapezium or rectangular shape of the hedges. Even the mature hedges need watering, nutrient supply and being freed from weeds. The aesthetic possibilities of design are seemingly endless, however, when creating and maintaining more complicated forms it is advisable to consult an expert.
